Sue, James & Shirley Receive Awards

 Awards Success for Tenant Assessors!

Regular visitors to the Hafod website will be familiar with our exciting project to train tenants to inspect and “mystery shop” our services.  The success of the Tenant Assessment Team has now been recognised on the national stage by winning two prizes at the TPAS Cymru Participation Awards.

TPAS Cymru is the national professional agency that advises tenants and landlords about ways to involve tenants in the ongoing development of housing services.  Every year TPAS Cymru hosts an award ceremony to recognise examples of good practice in tenant participation around Wales.

The Tenant Assessment Team won 2nd prize in the Val Feld Communication in Housing Award and 3rd prize in the Empowering People to Improve Services Award.

Hafod Tenant Assessors Shirley Sansom and Sue Gregory were at the ceremony to receive the awards.  Together with Kevin Ellaway, Sue and Shirley will soon be helping to train new Tenant Assessors to inspect landlord services.

James Penfold, Hafod’s Performance Officer, said, “Tenant involvement is vital to make sure Hafod’s services are the best they can be.  Kevin, Sue and Shirley have worked hard on this project and these awards recognise the time and effort they have put in over the last year.”

Sue Gregory, Tenant Assessor said, “The day was very enjoyable.  It was nice to see the team receive recognition for all of their hard work and efforts.”

Hafod works with three other Housing Associations to train tenants to assess the services we provide.  The Tenant Assessment Team project has also been awarded grant funding from the Welsh Assembly to train even more tenants to take part.
