RCT Council are looking to change the way they allocate homes to people on their waiting list. At the moment, the Council uses a points system to assess applications for social housing in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
This is called an ‘Allocation Scheme'.
Once application forms are assessed by the Council, they go onto a waiting list called the Common Housing Register. It's called a Common Housing Register because more than one housing association uses this list to allocate their homes. RCT Homes, Cynon Taf Community Housing Group and Rhondda Housing Association all allocate their homes to people on the Common Housing Register.
The Council wants to make some changes to the Allocation Scheme and the Common Housing Register to make the service for applicants better, give more information about housing in the borough and a simpler way of applying for housing. We want to:
• Include more housing associations in the Common Housing Register
• Applicants will still only have to fill out one application form for housing
• Give more information to applicants about their housing options
• Instead of giving applicants points, applicants will be placed into a band.
If you are a tenant living in RCT, or have an application with the Council for re-housing. they would like to hear from you. You can contribute to the consultation by clicking on the following links.
