Youth Awards Celebration!
This is the fourth year that Hafod Housing Association has run the Youth Awards that recognises and rewards the positive work that young people undertake in their community. The nominations illustrate the encouraging difference that young people can make, and the diversity of activities that they are involved.
The Youth Awards Celebration was held at the Heronston Hotel, Bridgend. The event was organised in partnership with YELLOW Wales. Over 60 young people and their guests attended the evening, with a guest appearance from Bridge FM's DJ Lee Jukes.
The Hafod Youth Award 2010 saw twelve young people aged 12 - 25 nominated. Nominations were received from Hafod Colleagues, YELLOW Wales Colleagues and professional in other organisations.
Hafod's Managing Director, Alan Morgan and Chair of Housing and Community Services Committee and Hafod Board Member, Sue Sheppard presented the 12 nominees with a trophy and certificate which recognised their contribution during 2010.
The overall winner for 2010 was 18 year old Charlotte Gillet of Bridgend. Her support worker, Jamie Feiven who commended her achievements, nominated Charlotte. Jamie exclaimed, "Charlotte has over come many personal challenges, and now lives independently.
