In 2006 we introduced are very successful Youth Incentive Scheme. All too often young people are seen as the source of problems and ‘tarred with the same brush'. Our new Youth Incentive Scheme actively seeks to re-address this negative perception by recognising and rewarding the excellent contribution that young people make to their communities.
"All too often young people who are a credit to both their families and society are overlooked in favour of bad publicity that concentrates on issues such as anti-social behaviour. We see a very different story and feel that good work should not go unrecognised." Alan Morgan, Managing Director
Officially opened in February 2007 this kick about area is already being well used by local children and young people. Plans are already in place to provide staffed play sessions and outreach youth work in this new facility.
Nantyffyllon Youth Club is a voluntary run organisation providing a much needed service for young people in the upper reaches of the Llynfi Valley. With support from Hafod the club has been able to develop its service from one night a week to 4 nights. Over the last 3 years the committee has secured funding from a range of sources including Big Lottery Fund; Arts Council for Wales; Coalfields Regeneration Trust; and WCVA Enfys Programme. This has provided young people with a range of new activities and the opportunity to express themselves and learn new skills in the arts, media, dance, IT as well as to undertake environmental projects within their own community. The hard work and commitment of the volunteers of the Nantyffyllon Youth Club was recognised in 2005 when the club won the National BT Neighbourhood Awards (Youth Category).
