Gabalfa Residents Pull Together
This summer has seen residents in Gabalfa getting involved in community events and lending a helping hand. We all know it's good to get to know our neighbours and to take pride in our communities and these ‘social gatherings' provide an ideal platform to do just that!
Working alongside Hafod staff and Keep Wales Tidy, parents and their children enjoyed a relaxing afternoon making hanging baskets and dream catchers. Local resident Karen (surname?) said, ‘It's a really good idea having a hanging basket day and nice to see the community growing together.'
The community BBQ with Cardiff Play Services was equally successful with local residents rolling up their sleeves to cook the burgers and sausages. Leah Lodderick, one of the cooks was happy to help ‘I thoroughly enjoyed the BBQ and having a go at the face painting.' Children had fun bouncing on the bouncy castle, playing kwik cricket and learning new tricks from the freestyle football coach.
Residents have also helped in organising two well attended and fun trips to the West Midlands Safari Park and Tenby. Thank you to Debbie and Viv in particular.
P.S. Two Gabalfa residents have also taken up the opportunity to attend one of our Food Hygiene Courses so they can help in future!
