Mynydd Glas Neighbourhood Watch Scheme

The county of Bridgend have a new Neighbourhood Watch group thanks to the residents of Mynydd Glas. Street Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator Tania George has worked with her friends and neighbours to make this possible.

Tania, with agreement from her neighbour Barbra Thomas exclaimed, "...it's taken over a year to get to this stage and at last people have finally joined together for our very first meeting!"

Over a quarter of household from Mynydd Glas, along with Hafod staff and the local PCSO's Tom Davies and Rachel Bargery came along to the meeting at Caerau Community Centre.

PCSO Rachel explained how the Neighbourhood Watch is not just about reducing burglary figures - it's about creating communities who care. It brings local people together and can make a real contribution to improving their life and environment

Tenant Sandra Dellar hopes for renewed community spirit, 'We often talk about the loss of community spirit in our neighbourhoods - I think this is a great way of reclaiming some of that."

If you would like to find out more about this Neighbourhood Watch why not attend their next meeting on Monday 7th December, beginning at 4:00pm, Caerau Community Centre or call Cerys Harries, Community Development Officer on 029 2067 5866 for more information.
