St Mellons Together

Tenants and residents of St Mellons in Cardiff are having more of a say in their housing services, thanks to the St Mellons Compact.

Since the launch of the St Mellons Compact in February, a number of consultation events have been held to make sure everyone in the area gets their say. Tenants' views have shaped a local Action Plan to help St Mellons be the best it can be.

A newsletter, "St Mellons Together", has been launched, to keep local residents informed. The park in Heol Maes Eirwg has been cleared up and a number of Green Fingers days have been held to consult with tenants and brighten up the estate. The St Mellons Compact has been so successful that members of a tenants' federation in Cornwall, Cornwall Neighbourhoods 4 Change, paid us a visit to see how well we were doing!

The St Mellons Compact is a partnership agreement between tenants and residents and three local Housing Associations - Hafod HA, Wales & West HA and Linc-Cymru. If you live in St Mellons and would like to know more about the St Mellons Compact, look out for your copy of St Mellons Together or contact James Penfold, Tenant Participation Officer on 029 2067 5865 or jpenfold@hafod.org.uk.

As part of the St Mellons Compact, Hafod staff worked with residents and young people to clean graffiti, erect and paint new fencing, paint bins and benches, and clear dumped rubbish in the park on Heol Maes Eirwg. Thanks to Laurence from ICI for donating the paint and for Cardiff Council, Play Services, and Keep Wales Tidy for their support.
