Becoming a Hafod tenant

We will work in partnership with Local authorities and Housing Associations to provide you with information about common waiting list arrangements in the areas we have properties. We will allocate our properties fairly and transparently. We will make sure our properties are clean, safe and secure when you move in.

Work we will do to meet the standard

We will:
• Respond sensitively when dealing with rehousing problems and deal with personal information in accordance with our confidentiality policy.
• Advise applicants on the ways in which they can exercise choice during the application procedure.
• Enter into management agreements with partner organisations to provide accommodation and support for vulnerable applicants with extra support needs.
• Provide trained staff to give support and assistance to customers from the moment an application for housing is received to when a property is offered, the tenancy is signed and after you move in.
• Inform new tenants of any outstanding repairs at the time they sign their new tenancy agreement and inform them when such repairs will be undertaken.
• Make sure locks are changed if insufficient keys have been handed in, forced access is required or future criminal intent is suspected.
• Inspect each property and take photographs. A new void standard sheet will be completed allowing housing to re-let the property as quickly as possible.
• Make sure each new letting has a:
o Gas Safety Check
o Electrical Check
o New Toilet Seat
o Windows checked, eased and lubricated
• Clean all rooms with suitable anti- bacterial cleaner including kitchens, bathrooms, windows and electrical sockets.
• Provide suitable air fresheners to kitchen and bathroom.
• Remove all rubbish from property internally and externally, including all rubbish previously left in the loft.
• Redecorate poorly maintained/smoke stained rooms or allow an appropriate decorating allowance/decorating pack to be paid to the new tenant, at the discretion of the inspecting officer.
