Tenant Involvement
Standard
We will provide opportunities at all levels within the association for tenants to be involved. We will tailor our tenant participation programme to support different methods and levels of tenant involvement which suit the needs and preferences of our tenants and the time they have available.
Work we will do to meet the standard
We will:
• Recognise the vital role that tenant involvement plays in the services we provide and the way we deliver them.
• Inform and consult with tenants on issues that directly affect them using a range of methods to meet individual needs.
• Publicise the ways in which tenants can get involved with the Association and provide appropriate resources to sustain that involvement.
• Work in partnership with our formal tenants groups and make sure they are representative.
• Provide reasonable funding and practical help to aid tenant involvement.
• Provide appropriate training to assist tenants to participate on both a formal and an informal level.
• Recognise and seek to address the wider issues of community development in our work with tenants and the wider community.
• Seek to identify new ways of working with and involving tenants in our work and ensure there is no cost to the tenant by addressing barriers they may face.
• Maintain a register of people who want to be involved in our work and what level of involvement suits them.
• Identify local issues and work in partnership with tenants and other agencies to find local solutions.
• Ensure that a diverse range of customers have the opportunity to become involved and will target and encourage groups that are underrepresented.
• Support and train all our staff to see consultation and involvement as a key part of the way we operate.
• Consult with tenants in respect of our annual Tenant Participation Action Plan and ensure that tenants are entirely involved in monitoring the process.
