Beware of cold callers

We are aware that some of our tenants have been contacted recently by energy suppliers encouraging them to switch their accounts.

If you are considering changing your supplier there are a few things you should check to make sure you know what you are signing up for.

Remember, if you do switch and change your mind there is a 14 day cooling off period so you can cancel within this time.

Before changing suppliers always check:

  • The tariff you will be on
  • If there is a standing charge if you are on a pre-payment meter
  • The length of the contract, (how long you are locked in for) and if there a penalty to leave
  • How to cancel during the cooling off period if you do change your mind. This may not be as simple as just calling the company so it’s important to check
