Situated in the historical town of Blaenavon and close to the amenities of Pontypool, Arthur Jenkins Care Home provides residential care in a home from home environment offering ground floor accommodation for 29 people aged over 55.
Our reputation is endorsed by the enthusiasm of the residents and the peace of mind enjoyed by their relatives and friends. We offer both permanent and respite options for people who require residential and dementia residential care.
The home also features a range of areas to relax in, with a large lounge area and two separate dining areas and a central garden area. A range of activities are on offer and are discussed monthly at our residents meeting. Links with local services are strong, so visits from GPs, district nurses, dieticians, physiotherapists and chiropodists are easily arranged.

Meet the team
Jane Saunders
Home Manager
Jane started as a carer in 1980 at Tŷ Gwyn Care Home and then moved into a managerial role in 1982, before becoming manager of Arthur Jenkins in 2003. Jane enjoys nothing more than making our residents feel welcome, entertained and supplied with anything they may need or want, but most importantly keeping our residents and colleagues safe and happy.
Joanne Dash
Senior Carer
Jo started her career as a care assistant in 2011 and later progressed to senior carer in 2014. Jo enjoys getting to know new residents and their routines to enable her to care for their needs in the best way possible. She strives to ensure that our residents are safe, happy and well.
Melissa Williams
Domestic Team Lead
Mel joined the team at Arthur Jenkins as a domestic cleaner in 2018. She really enjoys her role and loves chatting with our residents whilst carrying out her rounds.
Mike Newell
Maintenance Man
Mike joined the organisation six years ago and has been involved in maintenance and property development for the majority of his career. He's currently the maintenance operative for our Plas y Garn and Arthur Jenkins care homes. Mike enjoys completing jobs for residents like hanging personal photos and building furniture that makes their space feel like home.

Helen has worked at Arthur Jenkins for many years and enjoys cooking nutritious meals and treats for our residents. She likes to keep things as homely as possible and it's important to her that our residents are happy and satisfied.
Ashleigh Yates
Activity Co-ordinator
Ashleigh joined the team at Arthur Jenkins as a kitchen assistant and the moved to a role as activities co-ordinator after developing a passion to be more involved with our residents. She enjoys connecting with residents, reminiscing with them and organising fun activities for them to get involved with.
Deborah Merrifield
Business Support Administrator
Deb looks after the finances for admissions and discharges of our residents. She loves getting to know all our residents and their families, and enjoys the lovely family-feel at Arthur Jenkins.
