Respite care
Our respite care provides temporary placements within our care homes and enables carers to have a break from caring duties to look after themselves. The duration of any respite is dependent upon accommodation availability and funding. It is funded either by the local authority, direct payments or privately. Respite care can be booked in advance and many of those staying in respite care have regular breaks booked throughout the year. We can also accommodate one off and urgent requests when a care package has broken down or a carer has themselves has become unwell. Respite care is available for those who have general care requirements either at residential or nursing level or people who are living with dementia. For routine regular respite our colleagues will undertake a comprehensive assessment prior to admission and will involve the person accessing our service and carer in designing a individualised care plan. In the case of urgent referrals, colleagues will, as a minimum, liaise with the referrer and other professionals as required.
