Colleagues at our Tŷ Penrhos Care Home in Caerphilly have been busy raising significant funds for a fellow colleague, Mark, who suffered a stroke which has left him with physical disabilities.
Over the last month, five colleagues organised a sponsored walk where they set out to walk along the Taff Trail from Caerphilly all the way to Cardiff Bay. Their aim was to raise £250 to support Mark with his rehabilitation and care.
A magnificent £800 was raised through generous donations and sponsorship, which will all go to Mark, who’s a kitchen assistant at the home. There was a brilliant turnout for his presentation where his partner Kelly, was present along with many friends from across the home.
One of the home’s activities organisers, Lisa Parfitt, who took part in the walk, said: “The smile on Mark’s face made the blisters worth every penny! I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.”
Geraint Morgan, Manager at Tŷ Penrhos commented on how he was extremely proud of the amount raised for Mark. He said: “We are delighted to see the incredible reaction on Mark’s face to seeing how much we have raised on his behalf.
“He is making brilliant progress in his recovery and we’re pleased to hear how much of a positive effect this money will help throughout the rest of the process.”
