Free period products for our Cardiff customers

We’ve teamed up with period product brand TOTM to trial providing free pads, tampons and liners to our customers in Cardiff who need them. 

Please note, this trial is currently only available to Hafod customers. If you need urgent access to products, please ask your local foodbank.

After we launched our question of the month and survey on the affordability of period products, it became clear that purchasing enough products to last a period is a worry for many of our customers. We strongly believe at Hafod that everyone deserves a worry-free period. So that’s why we’re launching our Free Period Product Scheme!   

How does it work? 

You can order products by visiting  No questions asked, select which products you need and you can reorder whenever you need to. If you need help ordering, please contact one of our coaches or customer services. Once you’ve placed your order, one of our Free Periods Team will deliver your products to your door within a few days. 

What products are available? 

We’re working alongside sustainable brand TOTM to provide organic cotton products, meaning what we provide is good for the planet and good for you. We have a range of options available to order including: 

  • Pads – in medium and super
  • Tampons – in medium and super 
  • Liners 

If you’d like to trial the products first, there is an option to select a starter pack. We’ll provide you with one box of each and next time you order, you can pick what worked best for you.  To find out more about the products click here.

How often can I order?

If you need more products, please reorder at any time. You can order a maximum of 3 boxes per product at any time.

Who will deliver my products and how will they be delivered?

A member of our Free Periods Team will deliver your products straight to your door. We’ll aim to deliver within 2-3 days. They may get in touch to ensure you are in, or leave them on your doorstep. So look out for a delivery!

Can I order over the phone?

Yes, please contact customer services or your coach for support if you need help ordering.

I’m ordering on behalf of a household family member, I’m not sure what they need, what can I do?

We can offer Starter Packs which will contain one box of each product to try, so the next time you order you’ll know what you need. On the order form you’ll be asked if you know what to order. If you are unsure, select ‘no’ and we will offer you a starter pack.

How will you use the information I provide? 

This trial is part of a much bigger piece of work we are doing at in the Research & Innovation Team to understand the impacts of period poverty. After you have completed your order, you’ll be taken to a separate survey. It’s completely anonymous and voluntary to take part. We’ll ask a few questions about you so we can better understand who this might affect, so we can monitor demand and hopefully, be able to continue providing products in the future. The information you provide will not impact whether you receive products or not, this is a ‘no questions asked’ service. You can find out more in our privacy statement here.  

Why are you only offering this to Cardiff based customers? 

At the moment, we can only offer this to Cardiff based customers due to 2 reasons 

  1. This pilot scheme is part of a bigger piece of research, so we’re starting small with the aim to cover more of Wales while we undertake the research and prove the need for the service elsewhere. 
  2. The funding we have received for this piece of work is from Cardiff Council, so products must be distributed to Cardiff based customers.
