As part of our 50th anniversary celebrations we recently sat down with long serving tenant Gill Kendall who moved into one of our homes in Cwmbran in 1977 to hear her thoughts on her time with us.
In addition to living with us Gill has also been a member of our Board, a Chair of our Tenant Participation Working Group, has organised many community activities and was also part of the team that won an Exemplar award for reducing crime in Thornhill, Cwmbran.
Gill said: “I’d like to take this opportunity to wish Hafod a happy 50th anniversary. I still remember the advert I saw in the newspaper in Cwmbran saying they had houses available over 40 years ago and applied.
“I was successful and when we first went into the home it felt like a pair of arms had come around and hugged me, I knew this was the place I was meant to be.
“Throughout their 50 years Hafod’s biggest asset have been their staff, I’d like to say a big thank you to Michelle Llewellyn who’s their Engagement Co-ordinator, I’ve known her since she started at Hafod and she’s been a great worker ever since.”
Michelle Llewellyn told us: “Gill has worked tirelessly in both her own community and with Hafod to ensure the tenants voice is being heard to help shape and improve services. In this time, we have all come to know Gill for her commitment and passion to keep the tenants at the heart of everything that we do, but mainly for her laugh which you can usually hear before you see her!”
From all at Hafod we’d like to say thank you to Gill for her contributions to us and her community.
