After I was made redundant from my job in hospitality, I decided to apply for a role in care. I was starting a family at the time and a career in care gave me the job security I needed.
After few years, I was promoted to the role of Deputy Manager. I really enjoy the fact that every day is different.

“I love doing three 12-hour shifts, I have all that free time to put to other things.”

I previously worked as a bank manager and became a care assistant three years ago. I really value the flexibility care offers me; it gives me time outside of work to pursue my interests including photography.
I’m on the go all the time in my role and I’ve lost 3 stone as a result! I feel very proud to tell people I’m a carer, making a difference in residents’ lives each day.

“The training I’ve had over the years has been amazing”

I was a scaffolder before I decided to pursue a career in care. I applied for a role with Hafod and haven’t looked back since!
I find my role very fulfilling, my colleagues at Gwynfa are fantastic and have always been there to support me.
I really enjoy helping residents get their independence back, seeing them smile or do something they’ve never done before.
