Tenants settling in to £1.9m housing development in Bridgend

We were joined by colleagues from Bridgend County Borough Council last week to view our latest development of new homes on the site of the former Ogmore Constituency Labour Party (OCLP) Social Club site in Bryntirion.

The 18 new one and two bedroom apartments are available to rent for local people and were developed by Hafod in partnership with Bridgend County Borough Council and contractors Jehu. The site also includes retail space on the ground floor which will help to bring employment to the area.

The development, named Ty Talbot, has transformed the former club and provides much-needed homes in an area of high demand.

We currently own and manage over 1,200 homes in the county borough. Matthew Davies, our Director of Investment and Growth said: “It’s so rewarding to welcome tenants to their new homes which are in such high demand in this area. It’s also great to see the regeneration of this former site. We are committed to a further major programme of affordable housing in the county.”

Hafod has invested over £12m and provided over 210 homes in the county borough in the past five years. Work is nearing completion on 48 new homes at Coychurch Road close to the town centre of Bridgend and Hafod have a further 101 new homes in the pipeline for next year.

Councillor Huw David, Leader of Bridgend County Borough Council, said: “It’s very pleasing to see the transformation that the development has brought to the area. The homes have provided high quality and affordable accommodation to local people and the commercial units will soon be another positive addition to benefit residents.”

The project was funded by a mixture of the Welsh Government’s Social Housing Grant and Housing Finance Grant.
