A letter to relatives from Elaine – 2 April 2020
I write to thank you for your support and understanding over the last few weeks and would like to give you an update at what continues to be a challenging time.
As always, the health and safety of our residents and staff is our absolute priority. Our staff are practicing social distancing and are working tirelessly, over and above our expectations, to care for our residents. I must thank them for that.
We continue to liaise with Public Health Wales, the local health board and the local authority, and follow all guidance provided.
Residents who have shown any coronavirus-like symptoms have been quarantined and are receiving barrier nursing. This is for their own health, the safety of our carers and also for the well-being of our other residents. Please be assured that if your loved one is unwell, the home will contact you directly.
As you will have seen in the media, testing is not freely available so it has been difficult to confirm symptoms so we are taking strict precautionary measures. The issue of testing is something we are continuing to pursue with the relevant authorities.
Despite the current circumstances, the atmosphere in Woodcroft remains pleasant which I’m sure many of you will have seen through the photos shared on our Facebook group. The residents and staff are extremely grateful for your messages and kind gestures.
I hope this letter offers some reassurance on the steps we are taking around Coronavirus at Woodcroft, but I would be happy to discuss any individual concerns with you.
Our thoughts are with the families of those who have lost their lives and of those who are currently being treated.
