We’re excited to announce that we will be continuing to work in partnership with Bridgend County Borough Council and the Welsh Government to deliver housing-related support to people over 55 through our Sycamore support service.
Our Sycamore service operates throughout Bridgend County Borough and aims to support people over 55 to remain living independently for as long as possible. We offer free housing-related support to anyone, regardless of where they live or who owns their home. Support is provided to promote independence and is offered at a time and in a manner that suits the individual, including managing health and wellbeing, assistance with daily living tasks to remain independent and dealing with tenancy matters or concerns.
Bridgend County Borough Council has awarded us a new three-year contract to help support a growing number of vulnerable people aged over 55 to maintain their independence both in the community and in Extra Care schemes. The service will also provide a homeless prevention approach which offers people support for up to 12 weeks, with the flexibility to extend if needed.
Extra Care facilities in Bridgend County Borough enable residents to live within their own self-contained flats, fitted with all the equipment they need to remain safe and independent, while also having on site access to care as needed. They are intended to be a step up from care within the community and a step down from residential care.
Caroline Davies, our Head of Support said: “We’re excited to share the news that we’ll be continuing to work with Bridgend County Borough Council and the Welsh Government in the new year to deliver our Sycamore housing-related support service for older people in Bridgend.
“We plan to build on this successful service by incorporating a Hospital Discharge Support Worker into the team, embracing our integration agenda. Watch this space for a re-launch event in the new year!”
