Social Value in our communities
At Hafod, we want to help communities be happy, safe and connected. The Hafod Social Value Steering Group helps make sure our work brings extra benefits to local people, not just homes.
In the last year we have invested £20,000 in our communities to help people in real ways.
This money has helped to:
- Put in sit and chat benches so people can talk and not feel lonely

- Work with local partners to share skills and support
- Support policing projects, including Christmas meals for vulnerable adults
- Improve gardens at Extra Care homes so people can enjoy being outside
- Improve allotments so everyone can use them
- Supported local sporting activities
These projects help bring people together and build stronger communities.
We are proud to have supported over 4000 people with:
- 50 community projects supported
- 27 Community Fund grants given
- 11 Making a Difference grants
Our first Social Value Celebration Event, held in February, was a real success.
Customers shared their stories and talked about the positive impact the support they received has had on their communities.
Customers also had the opportunity to bid for extra support through our Dragon’s Den‑style panel.
This year, our Dragons were proud to support five community projects, helping to make a direct difference for local people.
The Dragon panel was made up of our contractors, customers and colleagues, all coming together to support our communities.
Keep an eye out for our next one in September!
Community Engagement Manager, Michelle McGregor, said: It’s all about helping people feel supported and included to make decisions based on what their community needs.
