Getting ready for a new school year can be expensive. School uniforms, shoes, bags and stationery can all add up.

If you’re worried about the cost of sending your child back to school, there may be help available.

Did you know there is an School Essentials Grant?

The Welsh Government’s School Essentials Grant can help families pay for things children need for school, including uniforms, shoes, school bags, stationery and sports kits. Eligible families can get £125 per child, and £200 for children starting Year 7.

Applying is simple:

  1. Check if your child is eligible.
  2. Find your local council using your postcode.
  3. Complete the online application form through your local council.
  4. Submit your application and wait for your council to contact you.
