From 27 August, new rules mean some small plug-in solar panels can be sold and used in the UK. These panels plug into a normal socket and can help generate electricity from sunlight.
Can I install plug-in solar panels at my Hafod home?
No. You must get written permission from Hafod before making changes to your home, including installing solar panels or attaching equipment to walls, roofs, balconies or railings.
At the moment, we do not give permission for tenants to install plug-in solar panels in any Hafod homes.
Why have we made this decision?
We need to make sure our homes stay safe for everyone. Before allowing any new equipment, we have to think about things like:
- Electrical safety
- Fire risks
- Building safety
- Insurance requirements
- Future repairs and maintenance
- The safety of shared spaces and communal areas
Even if a product is legal to buy, it may not be suitable for a Hafod home.
