Welcome to the academi
We want to develop strong people leaders who enable and empower their teams to achieve high quality outcomes.
To do this we have created four leadership programmes suitable for our colleagues at every stage of their leadership development journey.
Our ‘Learn to Lead’ and ‘Taking the Lead’ programmes are the ideal platform for aspiring leaders to learn the ropes, or to build the confidence of those leading teams for the first time.
To support our leaders to develop high performing teams we have our ‘Step up’ and ‘Leading Edge’ programmes. Delivered in conjunction with the University of South Wales, Leading Edge challenges the way our colleagues currently lead, and is aimed at
those leading a department, service or directorate.
Great leadership can help us deliver great days at work for our colleagues, and to support a high performance culture. By providing opportunities to develop leadership and management skills we are giving our colleagues the opportunity progress in their careers, have the potential to earn more.
Pre-registration Nursing programme
We have introduced opportunities for our colleagues in care to undertake the Pre-Registration Nursing degree with the Open University (OU) and in recent weeks our first three participants have started the programme following their successful application.
Our colleagues will continue to work with us as well as enhancing their skills and knowledge on placement with the NHS and through part-time home study with the OU. The programme is designed to develop effective evidence-based practice and usually takes about four years to complete. The course is a balance of practical and theoretical learning and can fitted around other commitments.
We provide our colleagues with protected time for practice learning and upon completion they will gain the award of BSc (Honours) Nursing which makes them eligible to apply for registration as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). At the end of the programme successful participants will have the opportunity to undertake Nursing roles within one of our Nursing homes.
Nursing Assistant programme
Our 12-week Nursing Care Assistant programme, developed with the University of South Wales and the NHS enhances and develops clinical skills and provides a new career pathway for our colleagues in care.
Colleagues benefit from access to the simulation suite at the University of South Wales allowing them to practice their clinical skills in a state of the art environment before applying their skills in their new roles.
To ensure quality, the programme has been developed using the NHS competency framework and gives participants the skills and knowledge to play a key role in helping us ensure the provision of the highest quality and continuity of care.
