When can I claim from?

Claims will be accepted for any treatments which take place on or after 1 June 2021.

What can I claim for?

With Medicash you have an annual allowance to help you towards the cost of a range of health benefits and treatments. View your benefit table to see what’s covered.  

How do I claim?

The easiest way to claim is via the Medicash app, however you can also claim online or alternatively download a claim form and submit this by post.

Is there a time limit to submit claims?

Yes, all claims must be submitted within 26 weeks of the treatment date, or the date you fully paid for your treatment. Full details can be found in your terms and conditions booklet.

What do I have to pay to join the scheme?

The great news is that Hafod will meet the cost of the cover for you. This is however, a taxable benefit, which will be automatically applied via your tax code and is a small amount based on the premium that the organisation pays.

As an example, the cost to a standard rate (20%) taxpayer is estimated at 76p per month however we must remind you that everyone’s circumstances are unique.

How do I add my children to the policy?

You can add your dependent children under 16 or those 16-24 and in full-time education to your Medicash plan.

Simply register their details within the app or by calling Medicash on 0151 702 0265.

Alternatively, you can download and complete the membership upgrade form and post it to Medicash, One Derby Square, Liverpool L2 1AB.

You can also include your partner o your plan at a cost of £6.10 per month. Please complete this form or contact Medicash if you’d like to do this.  

Do I have to use specific practitioners?

No, you are entitled to see any relevant dentist, optician or therapy practitioner provided they have the recognised qualifications and insurance for the treatments covered. Please see your terms and conditions booklet for more details.

Do claims have to be work related?

No, this plan is designed to cover all aspects of your everyday healthcare, whether this is work related or at home.

If I pay for contact lenses or my dentist by monthly direct debit, how do I claim?

The best advice is to obtain a quarterly receipt to allow you to claim every three months or so, up to your maximum benefit. Unfortunately, Medicash cannot accept bank statements as proof of purchase. Remember, you have 26 weeks to submit a claim, any monthly payments outside of this will not be paid.

If I have other employee benefits such as private medical healthcare, will they be stopped?

No, this benefit would be in addition to any private medical cover you may currently have.

I'm not sure this plan would benefit me. Can I be removed?

At an estimated tax cost to you of just 76p per month, Medicash offers a wide range of benefits to give you and your children (up to the age of 24 in full time education) peace of mind for unexpected healthcare costs and access to a GP 24/7. However, if you do not wish to benefit from this healthcare cash plan, you can let HR know by emailing hr.admin@hafod.org.uk before 30 June.

If you do not let us know before 30 June, you will be signed up for the benefit for a period of 12 months. If you do choose to leave the scheme, the next opportunity to re-join will be 01 June 2022 when the benefit is renewed.

Will Lifeworks still be available?

Medicash offers everything that Lifeworks does and more. Lifeworks will initially run alongside the Medicash plan but it is intended that this will be phased out.
