Digital support

We’re thrilled to share that Hafod, along with eight partners across South Wales, has been awarded over £50,000 through Welsh Government to take part in the Minimum Digital Living Standard pilot.

This funding will support a scaled-up pilot focused on tackling digital exclusion in at least 40 households across Hafod communities. This will also see the recruitment of two digital inclusion coaches for a six month period; their role will be to support Hafod customers to access digital devices and gain the skills and confidence needed to use technology.

Danielle Roberts, Digital Adoption and Skills Lead at Hafod, said:

“This funding from Welsh Government allows us to support some of our most digitally excluded customers.

“From digital devices and reliable broadband connectivity for those who lack access to essential technology, to tailored digital skills training and support, the project aims to ensure that everyone has the tools to participate fully in modern life.

“With previous National Survey for Wales data showing social housing tenants are among the most digitally excluded groups, we’re proud to be part of this important work to make digital inclusion a reality for everyone.”

Success will be measured using the Minimum Digital Living Standard (MDLS) framework, which defines what is needed to be digitally included in today’s world; not just having internet and devices, but also the skills, knowledge, and support to use them safely and confidently.

By building on two earlier phases of research and a successful 2024/25 pilot, this project will help deepen an understanding of what works, and the outcomes will inform future policy and service delivery, helping shape more inclusive, effective digital support across the sector.
